From the Latin “Meditare” which means “to contemplate”, meditation is a practice of training the mind to free itself from negative and harmful thoughts. Obviously, many thoughts are useful for managing one's life or resolving practical problems, but the mental mechanisms are such that they constantly produce thoughts that are often harmful. The objective of meditation is therefore to ensure that these thoughts no longer have control over us, and to free ourselves from our negative ruminations which prevent us from moving forward in our lives.
Meditating therefore means using certain concentration and relaxation techniques in order to concentrate on yourself and thus silence your inner hubbub. It’s a break from our stressful, noisy, fast paced daily life and being able to sit down, stop and observe what’s happening inside us.
